Thinking Keys

Well another weekly day has nearly past by at Enrich and today we learnt about the Thinkers Keys.
There are three types of Thinkers keys:

1. Brainstorming Key

2. Ridiculous Key

3. Variation Key

We only got to do two though. My group did the Brainstorming Key first and then we moved onto the Variation Key.

The Brainstorming key was about brainstorming your ideas for doing something like for example How to encourage people to skip, which was my one. We came up with the ideas of

A Skipathon and every mile you skip you get $10

Where you have to learn to skip at school

A skip day so you can't use any kind of transport except skipping.

Give out free jump ropes.

Free rewards if you skip.

Every time you skip you get Fly buys points.

Ban transport (including walking and running).

Every time you skip in the supermarket you get free food.

Skipping Lane on footpaths.

And so we came up with some good ideas which I would never even think of doing. Talking about things I couldn't imagine doing, one of our Must Do's is with Darryn looking at a Pig's eye!!! Absolutely disgusting and I wish it was a pick not a Must Do!

Anyway I better get on to doing my Must Do's and Picks now (scary)

Until next time,

Goodbye

Scamper

Hi everyone,
Today for Must Do's and Picks I did a workshop which was called Scamper.
You might remember at the beginning of my blog that I talked about Scamper.
This time we did another workshop on Scamper but except we did it on the environment like the Library, Queens Park etc...

S is substitute

C is combine

A is alter

M is mini/mega

P is put to other uses

E is eliminate

R is reverse

Our group did the Scamper on Queens Park.
The best idea's are....

1. We chose to reverse the merry-go-round upside down so it could be monkey bars or to hang on and spin round.
2. To change the castle into a stage.
3. To make a treehouse village.

Pretty Cool!!!

P.S. Do you like my new backround for my blog?

Around The World

Guess what I did today...
I worked with Jemmimah on a Must Do on the computer called Around the World. It was very frustrating, fun and annoying! It was a keynote with questions that we had to answer on Henry The Tuatara traveling around the world. There were ten of them that we had to answer and here they are:

Clue 1: Henry has gone!
He was last seen boarding a plane with a wallet full of “greenbacks” and saying something about visiting his cousins in the bayous. Which country is he heading for?
Clue 2: Now he is off again, this time he is heading for the country that is home to the youngest ever world chess champion. That country is.
Clue 3:Now he is heading off to see some cousins in “the red centre”. He is off, carrying his sunblock to...
Clue 4:You just missed him and now he is heading for a place ( in the same country) made famous for animals by a gifted man who died tragically before his time in “fishy” circumstances, leaving behind a wife, a daughter and a son to carry on his life’s work. Where are you headed now?
Clue 5:After visiting his cousins Henry decides to go and visit a place that displays the work of many very gifted artists from the past. Some one saw him changing his dollars for francs. Where is he heading?
Clue 6:That bit of culture got him excited and now he wants to go to the home of a very gifted entertainer known as “The King”. Where is he headed now?

Clue 7:Now he is in a musical mood he is off to Paris to Père Lachaise Cemetery to visit the grave of another famous rock musician named ...
Clue 8: He is now treading on the shaky ground of an island once famous for voodoo. Henry needs to brush up on his Creole. What is the name of this Caribean Island? (This was the hardest one)
Clue 9: Henry now needs to put on his winter woolies and head of to this state for some baked ice cream. The state is called?

Clue 10:You are almost there. Quick! Henry has just been spotted doing the big climb to check out the view of the 2016 games from the top a famous statue called?

So you see they were pretty hard but we managed to get through them all except the one that I said we found hard which we are still working on. You should have a go doing them too!!!

Until next time,

Adios

All Or Nothing sounds very suspicious so you WILL want to read this blog post of mine.
This game involves hoops, bins (without lid on it), bean bag toys and people of course!!!
So you get into groups of round 7-10 in each group and so it starts from here! The set out is exactly the same as Bulls Eye but with a bin. If you can't remember the set out of Bulls Eye it's this: you have four hoops behind each other spaced out VERTICALLY for each group. You put the bin in the first hoop and the first person in your line holds the bean bag.
Now here are the instructions, simple as ever:

1.  The first person has to try and throw the beanbag into the bin and if you get it in you move the bin into the next bin, then go behind the second hoop and throw it to the next person in line and if the person catches the beanbag, that person has to try to get it in the bin but if that person doesn't catch it the bin goes right back to the start!!!!Oh and back to the start of the instructions if you don't get it in the bin the next person try's to get it in.

When the person catches it from behind the last hoop that team WINS!

It is a very and truly fun game but not suspicious!

Photo's Around Town

Today I arrived in late at Enrich because I was watching the Choir at the Civic Theatre and it was absolutely astonishing!!! They were so good. I knew some people there who were mostly from swimming and of course school!!!
When I came back Jemmimah immediately rushed up to me and said that we are going out to take photos for our Environment projects. It was like really, I just came back from watching the Choir at the Civic for 2 hours and then I had to walk to Enrich, it's like give me a break kiddo.
So lets get back to the main point:
We only had one hour to go to Queens Park, Anderson's Park, The Art Gallery's, The Museum, The Civic Theatre, Splash Palace, Thompson's Bush, Oreti Beach,The Rugby Stadium and the shops in town. But we only had time to go to Splash Palace, The Museum, Queens Park and The Rugby Stadium. Here are some of the photo's that I took:

Hi,
You know how I said last week that I would say about Passion Time, well I can't exactly tell you much because last week Spanish interfered with Passion Time so all I did was stick some newspaper on a handy towel. Pretty disappointing ha.

Instead I will talk about the game we played. I don't know what it was called though but it was really fun.  You have to get in a circle and get a ball. Then the person with the ball has to pass it to someone else but it can't be the people beside you. If the person you pass it to drops the ball. Err start again. When it gets down to the last three people and you have to pass it to someone who is beside another person. Err start again because remember you can't pass it to someone who is beside you!!!
When you get really good you can try having more balls and not talking. Our best score was 2:39 when we tried not talking and with more balls. It is harder than it sounds!!!!!!!

Hello everyone,
Another week has passed by and we are back at Enrich.
This afternoon we are going to start our Passion Time. Sooooooooooooooo exciting!!! The reason I am so excited is because we haven't done Passion Time in ages!!!!! Like seriously, it has been ages.
I decided to do multi media sculptures. I don't really know what it is all about so that is why I chose that. I can't wait to get started and next week I will tell you all about it so you will understand.
I better get this blog post signed off so I can do more on Passion Time!!!!!

Until next time,

Clara

Hello and welcome to another week of Fibonacci Sequence! Today we learnt that spirals are actually a Fibonacci Sequence. If you do not understand here is a picture:

Here is our picture that we drew on the Fibonacci spiral:

We also found a website when you can see the Fibonacci number for example: I would type in the 100th number and then it would show the 100th number. To type the number you want type it in the box From i= then click show series.
Below is the website and here is a picture of the website just so you know that that is the right website to go on.

Tuesday, 21 August 2012

Hello everyone! Welcome to today's post.
Today we did another week of our High Interest stations. Today we either had a choice between 3D drawing with Darryn, Fibonacci Sequence Maths with Alana, or Science with Katie. I chose to do 3D drawing with Darryn but since there were not many people in the Maths group I decided to step in. So next week I am going to do 3D drawing since that is what I chose in the first place.
Anyway lets get back to Fibonacci:
Here is an example of what I learnt:
1,1,3,5,8,13,21,34,55.
So what you do is you go 0+1=1 then you go 1+1=1, next you go 1+2=3 and you keep adding your last two numbers. Fibonacci got the highest number of 465 digits!!!!!!
I bet he couldn't even say the number because it was so big! Only my guess of course.
We also learnt that cows have babies when they are one years old. Here is our diagram that we made to help us all understand:

Until next time,
See you later!!!!

Dinoscope

Aren't I pest!!!! I can't help myself but to carry on talking about Biology.

On the subject Biology, ask yourself this question: Is a fly an insect?

Answer: Yes because an insect has to have six legs and 3 body parts. The three body parts are thorax, head and adomen.

Here is my poster or comic that I made about the Dinoscope. I hope you like it!!!!! Some of the things are gross but some are really cool like the denim and the computer sound speaker.
Until next time.... See you next week.

Yuck Flies

Hello everyone!!!                                        Flies Wing:
For our high interest activities we had a choice of doing... Cartoon Drawing with Katie, Biology Dinoscopes with Darryn or Chemistry with Jenni. Since I had worked with Darryn before with the Dinoscope I decided to continue with that because I thought it was quite spectacular. I wish we did not have to look at FLIES on the Dinoscope because it was absolutely disgraceful and revolting. Darryn caught some House flies and he brought them along today so we could look at them. Darryn said we had to crunch up the fly. I decided that I would do it with the Dinoscope because I would never in my life touch a fly or even a dead fly.                                  Stapler:
The Inside of a bug (my guess):
So anyway, I crunched up the fly and then put the dinoscope up to 200 so I could see the fly up close clearly. Then I decided to look at the flies wings. They looked amazing up close and you would never think they would look like that if you look at a fly!!!! Then since I was at the middle of my book I looked at the staple. What a sight!!!! I don't know if it is disgusting or cool so I will let you decide on that!!! This other boy found an alive spider. GROSS!!! When you actually looked at it far away it was just a tiny speck and you could not even see it moving. When we looked at it with the dinoscope it was sooooooo big. I got so afraid that it would be on my book as well!!! And then I was stupid enough to think that a live spider was on my computer mouse because I felt something but it was actually just a piece of fluff. How stupid am I!!!!!  Darryn thought I had got an electric shot, I was so embarrassed after that. here are some photo's that I took which I will show you. (The photo's are up above!)

Teacher Comment

Hi Clara
Your impressionist artwork has turned our really well!  You followed the steps as shown in the tutorial to help with this technique.  I really liked the colour of your pond today - you used lots of different colours, but you blended it on the canvas which created that blurred look really well!  You also had lots of great ideas for our group environment projects today.  I can’t wait to see how your movie promoting Invercargill turns out.  You made great use of your time today Clara - well done!  Katie.

Art Again!!!

Hello everybody, today at Enrich I did Art with Katie....Again!!!! Instead of doing our brush strokes horizontal we did our brush strokes vertical. We did exactly the same picture as we did last time. Here is my picture I painted:
I think my other one was better than this one for some random reason. I would definitely not like to swim in this pond!!! It would be so muddy and grubby. I wish I could have painted my pond a bit more blue. I think I did a better job on my lilly pads then last time which I am proud of.
Until next time,
Bye Bye

Environment Expert Vist

Today...Oops I always start like this! Well, today we had a visit from Anastazia from Environment Southland.  She talked with us about the Waihopai River and Seawood Bush. She came in today because we were doing an experiment on the Waihopai River. Anastazia was telling us about how the Waihopai River is blocked up and very muddy and dirty. She asked us some of the ways that we can stop the River getting muddy and dirty or any questions we would like to ask. At first it was plain silence. 1, 2, 3... Then finally someone asked a question. After we talked about the Waihopai River we talked about how we can help Seawood Bush and
how all the predators are eating the birds. After Anastazia left
we talked about what we would do for our Environment projects.
Our projects are how we can make a difference in
Invercargill. I think I will do a mural for my project.
Here on the right is my schools hall.

Art with Katie

Well today, we had a choice of doing a Science Experiment with Jenny, Maths tessellation with Darryn or Painting with Katie. I chose to do Art. We were painting a picture of Claude Monet's styles. Here is one of his paintings. We had to paint a lily pond, kind of like the lily pond picture on the right. Claude Monet was born in November 14 1840 and died in 5 December 1926. He died at the age of 86. His type of brush stroke was Impressionst. So that is what we did. Below here is my piece of artwork. I thought this artist is a very talented artist because know one has his style of art. I am so glad I chose this workshop!

Term 2 Assessment

Today at Enrich we did our Term 2 assessment. We had to do a 10 question reflection. It started us off with the sentence and then we had to finish the sentences off. Everyone had a different perspective for their answers. Here are the starting sentences... I really liked the way I....I wish I had... I still need to work on... This helped me understand... I am most proud of... It will be easy to remember... The tricky part was... Next time I need to... I can explain...and... This reminded me of. The hardest questions were: This helped me understand, I wish I had, and, This reminded me of. The easiest questions were: I really like the way, I am most proud of, and I can explain.

Kowhaiwhai artwork

Today we finished off our Kowhaiwhai artwork. This is my piece of artwork. I worked on a piece of hardboard with Hannah W and Amy. I thought our creation looked spectacular. I am very proud of my artwork and I really enjoyed doing it. It was very hard at first but we got used to it and they all turned out amazing!!! I can't wait until they are up on the beams on the ceiling!!!!!!

Talent Development

Today for Talent Development the Drama group went to the Southland Community Radio Station to record ourselves and be on air. It was so cool. We had a few mistakes but at least technology can fix it. The whole room was padded even the door so that when we are recording it won't hear anything. Since we finished early half an hour early Darryn let us on a surprise. We went to the Art Gallery and the theme was mountains and the forest. What was the best thing about the Art Gallery was that the Artist was there. His name was Wayne Edgerton. It was really like school and he was our teacher and we were the students which was so cool. We asked so many questions. In the Art Gallery there was a stand that showed one of his first pictures and it was actually a shark. He said that he loved painting sharks. Also he used to be a Art Teacher but now he isn't because he decided it was time to give up teaching Art. He used to tech Senior classes. I loved Talent Development today!!!!!

Talent Development

Today for Talent Development instead of reading off the script out loud, instead we recorded ourselves with a headset on Garageband. It took a long time and we had a lot of fixing up to do because we kept on making mistakes!!! I wanted to  do Drama for Talent Development because I wanted to face my fears with speaking in front of an audience. I also wanted to do Drama because I thought it would be interesting trying something new. I think I like Readers Theatre better than Drama because it's something different. We had a longer amount of time today because the Photography group went on a trip to Queens Park to take some spectacular photos!!! That would of been so cool. I love Talent Development!!!!!

Winning Chess

Today I won a chess match against Lewis that makes me first on the Leader board. I really wanted to get first or in the top seven because then I would be in The chess Tournament. I am so excited but now people keep wanting to play a game with me.

My Learning Wheel On The Last Day At Enrich Term1 2012

is my Learning Wheel

At Enrich today we had to do this Learning Wheel.  These are the questions we had to answer:
  • I wondered
  • I tried
  • I learned
  • I used
  • I felt
I was trying to think what to write in each of them but then I thought of something for each box and I was pleased with myself that I had got it finished in time.  It was hard work. We had to think of all the stuff we had done over the Term to fill in this reflection. We had to put lots of detail into this.

In the 9 days that I have had at Enrich has been spectacular!!!!!!! I have learnt so much. I think the Learning Wheel is great to show what I'm thinking. Most of my reflections is about chess. I wrote a lot about chess because it is not just about random knights and bishops it's all about maths and strategies and all sorts of stuff.

I have had such a great day at enrich so far it has been so fun!!
I have just been to Affective Domain with Alana. Alana asked some questions about what is good about being gifted.
I am learning so much more about chess.
I learnt in my multiple intelligence survey that I my biggest strengths were Intrapersonal, Mathematical, Musical, Spatial and Kinesthetic.
Today I learnt for the first time how to blog I was so excited. I have had another great day.
